Motorcycle Accident
In the state of Minnesota, more motorcyclists on the road mean motorcycle accidents are on the rise. While motorcycle accidents can occur as a result of product malfunction or improper road maintenance, ¾ of all motorcycle accidents involve a car or other vehicle. Most motorcycle accidents involving other vehicles occur as a result of:
- Speeding
- Inattentive driving
- Following too closely
- Blind spots on larger vehicles
- Failure to yield or stop
- Poor weather
- Poor road conditions
While motorcyclists are protected under Minnesota Motorcycle Law, they are not entitled to no-fault benefits from the at-fault driver’s insurance. The law does require however that the person or company responsible for damages pay for them. These damages may include:
- Medical expenses
- Income loss
- Permanent disfigurement
- Permanent injury
- Disability
- Death
- Funeral expenses
- Survivor’s economic losses
Any percentage of fault on the motorcyclist’s part reduces the value of the case up to and equal to 50%.
